PrintColumbia's True/False Film Festival kicks off with a Jubilee on Thursday night, followed by a parade Friday morning and film work from directors of 43 different pieces through the weekend.
Elliot Reed, press liaison for the event, told Vox Magazine film buff Aaron Channon that he's looking forward to "The Interrupters," a movie about a radical approach to gang violence in Chicago and "The Black Power Mix Tape 1967-1974," a film that Reed describes as a "character portrait" made with footage taken more than 30 years ago during the Black Power movement.
Both films also appeared at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Other films making a dual appearance this year are:
- The Burger and the King
- Buck
- Bobby Fischer Against the World
The True/False Festival is in its eighth year and had its largest crowd yet last year.

Watched "Better this World" a documentary on how the FBI radicalized and entrapped two kids from Texas during the 2008 RNC. It shows how far off base law enforcement has come from merely investigating crimes to actually encouraging people to violence.
It was one of the secret screenings (black), but I highly suggest it for future viewing.
