COLUMBIA — A driver hit a pedestrian Wednesday night while turning left from Rollins Street onto College Avenue, MU Police Capt. Brian Weimer said.
The driver, Lindsay Burle, did not see the female pedestrian crossing the street, Weimer said.
He said the pedestrian was transported by ambulance to University Hospital but would not comment on her condition.
An ambulance was dispatched to the intersection at 6:19 p.m.
Weimer said Burle was issued a court summons for colliding with a pedestrian.

It is a campus tradition that students cross the street anytime & anywhere they damned well please. I did it myself when I was a student. Accident was unfortunate. Drivers just have to beware.
If the driver hit a pedestrian turning left, it's likely the pedestrian was crossing with the light and had the right of way.
I'd wonder whether the driver was paying full attention to the road. Perhaps a check of mobile/phone records might be in order here?
