COLUMBIA — On Sunday, the NCAA selection committee announced that the Missouri men's basketball team received the No. 11 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament.
Missouri will begin the tournament Thursday when it plays the No. 6 seed Cincinnati Bearcats at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. If Missouri wins, it will play the winner of the game between No. 3 seed UConn and No. 14 seed Bucknell .
If Missouri wins in the second round, it will travel to Anaheim, Calif., for the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 rounds. If Missouri has still not lost at that point, the Tigers will travel to Houston for the Final Four.
Missouri comes into the tournament having lost four of its last five games. The last time the Tigers defeated a team that's also in the NCAA Tournament was Jan. 17 when they defeated Kansas State.
Duke received the No. 1 seed in the West region, while San Diego State was No. 2. Kansas, Pittsburgh and Ohio State were the No. 1 seeds in the three other regions.
