COLUMBIA — Former MU tailback Derrick Washington's deviate sexual assault case, which began when he was charged in August, was continued for the third time on Monday.
The next hearing is scheduled for May 2.
Washington's attorney, Chris Slusher, and the Boone County Prosecutor's office agreed to the continuance. The prosecutor handling the case, Andrea Hayes, is on maternity leave.
Slusher said having several continuances in a felony case is "not unusual."
Washington is also scheduled to be in court for a hearing on a charge of third-degree domestic assault on March 30. He was charged with domestic assault in September, and that case has been continued four times.
