I was disappointed to hear former Missouri men's basketball coach Mike Anderson was leaving MU and even more disappointed in his lack of concern for the team he is leaving behind and the fact that our Tigers had to learn rumors of this departure on the Internet. He had so little regard for our team that he didn't first try to speak to them in person or even give them a phone call. Coach Anderson is nothing like the person I thought he was. He is just another person driven by greed.
Tigers, you deserve better. You did everything he asked, on and off the court. All of your hard work has been apparent.

Coach Anderson may be gone, but I am here.
Still a fan. Still a Tiger.

"Driven by greed." What a laugh. What do people expect? He came here what -- 4, 5 years ago at 800K or thereabouts (not counting perks) and sees his salary doubled in that time, unlike anyone else on campus or probably in the entire state (except maybe another coach).
Now here's the latest lede: "Anderson's contract with Arkansas stipulates that he will receive $2.2 million per year for seven years, a $650,000 increase over his 2010-11 salary at Missouri."
Double take: A six hundred and fifty thousand dollar annual increase to two point two MILLION dollars to COACH.
Not perform heart surgery; not design skyscrapers; not win a Nobel Prize; not invent the next greatest piece of University-owned intellectual property; not TEACH -- you know, that University "mission" -- but coach, which sure as hell ain't anything like teaching when it comes to payday.
And what's more, his players make zilch.
These salary figures are SO out of touch with all reality, all sanity, and all common sense that for anyone -- fan, foe, player, whatever -- to get worked up over the man's greed, disloyalty, etc. is -- out of touch with all reality.
Just like the salary. Just like college ball. Just like this stupid game these coaches and their "handlers" play around the country every season. Until fans themselves change this crazy system -- where players make zip and coaches make fortunes that take your breath away every time you see the latest dollar-driven insanity -- expect more greed.
Until then, get over it.
