PrintCOLUMBIA — A preliminary hearing for one of the eight men charged in connection with the Oct. 23 shooting of Aaron Hobson was postponed until April 4.
Tony Lavelle Lewis' attorney, Jennifer Bukowsky, was out of state and could not attend the hearing, originally scheduled for Monday afternoon. The prosecutor's office agreed to the request, and Judge Gary Oxenhandler said the hearing could be rescheduled.
Lewis, 26, of Boonville, and Leo D. Roland, 19, of Columbia, were both arrested and charged with second-degree murder and second-degree robbery on Oct. 24. Roland is due in court for a preliminary hearing on April 14.
Six other men are also charged in connection with Hobson's death:
- Patrick Rashad Marshall, 18, of St. Louis. Preliminary hearing set for Wednesday.
- Anthony Jamal Carr, 24, of Columbia. Preliminary hearing set for April 12.
- Deshon Joseph Alexander Houston, 20, of Columbia. Status review set for May 16.
- Lee Wyatt Carter, 24, of Columbia. Jury trial set for May 17.
- Daron Martez Peal, 23, of Moberly. Jury trial set for May 24. In a previous Missourian article, Sgt. Jill Wieneke, public information officer for the Columbia Police Department, said police believe Peal was the person who used the gun to kill Hobson.
- Darris Arlando Peal, 22. Jury trial set for June 7. He is the younger brother of Daron Peal.
All eight men are charged with second-degree murder and second-degree robbery in connection with the incident.
Hobson, 22, was shot Oct. 23 in the parking lot of the Break Time convenience store at 110 E. Nifong Blvd. Hobson, from Wichita, Kan., was in town to watch his cousin, Missouri defensive back Trey Hobson, play in MU's Homecoming game against Oklahoma.
