Frank Haith resigned his position as the University of Miami men's basketball coach Monday, according to a press release on the Miami Hurricanes athletics website.
“Frank Haith has been a steady leader and made a positive impact on the University of Miami men’s basketball program," acting Miami athletics director Tony Hernadez said.

In the release, Hernandez also wished Haith well at Missouri. Haith has been selected to become the 17th coach of the Missouri men's basketball team, but his contract has not yet been approved by the MU Board of Curators. A special meeting of the Curators is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Monday to vote on the contract.
Haith, 45, was hired by the Hurricanes in 2004. He has an overall record of 129-101 as a head coach, including a 43-69 record in the ACC. After the 2007-08 season — the only season Haith's Hurricanes appeared in an NCAA tournament — Haith signed a five-year contract through the 2012-13 season. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. In 2008, Miami held the No. 16 preseason ranking in the USA Today/ESPN poll, which tied for the highest preseason ranking in Miami history.
Prior to taking his first head collegiate coaching job at Miami, Haith occupied the sidelines of seven different teams as an assistant or associate coach.
Haith got his coaching start in 1985 as a student assistant at Elon (his alma mater), where he eventually moved into the role of assistant coach.
Haith also coached in assistant or associate head coaching positions at Wake Forest, UNC-Wilmington, Texas A&M, Penn State and Texas.
During his time as an assistant, Haith was known for his ability to recruit. Over his career, he has recruited six McDonald's All-Americans.
Haith recruited five players for Miami in 2011. Those players will have the option to switch their commitments or interest to Missouri if Haith's contract is approved. Guard Bishop Daniels signed with Miami in October 2010. Guard Chris Bolden and center Ismaila Dauda have verbally committed to the Hurricanes.
Guard Kevin Ware, who was released from his commitment at Tennessee after the Volunteers fired head coach Bruce Pearl, has a scholarship offer from Miami, as does power forward Yvan Ngirabakunzi.

Mizzou fans might want to access today's (4-4-11) "bleacher report," where they will find guest commentary by Sam Westmoreland. In Westmoreland's opinion (whatever that's worth) MU has made a questionable choice. Specifically, Westmoreland notes that MU is replacing Anderson with a coach having a poorer current record than Anderson had at MU. Westmoreland concludes with the comment that MU needs to do better if they hope to keep up with Kansas, etc. rather than fall further behind.
