COLUMBIA — Frank Haith, the new Missouri men's basketball coach, spoke Tuesday morning to a group of fans, players, boosters and the media at the Clinton Club at Mizzou Arena.
UM System Chancellor Brady Deaton said Tuesday marks a new beginning for Missouri basketball, and both Deaton and MU athletics director Mike Alden said they welcome Haith into the Missouri family.

Players and fans broke into a chant of M-I-Z Z-O-U as Haith took the podium.
"I'm impressed," Haith said. "Let's go play a game."
Haith went on to talk about his plans for the Missouri basketball team, both athletically and academically. He discussed the sometimes negative fan backlash that he saw Sunday night and Monday, and he acknowledged the work that lies ahead and the expectations he has for his team and himself.
"No one's going to put more on our program than I put on myself and what we expect," Haith said. "As I mentioned earlier, there's tremendous passion here."
Haith said he wouldn't have left Miami unless it was for a great opportunity at a school with a strong basketball program.
"I am so blessed to have the opportunity to have a basketball job," Haith said. "This is my home. I envision being here a long time; as long as the university wants me here."
