COLUMBIA — Missouri sophomore Chelsea Thomas was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for the third time of the season Tuesday.
After going 3-0 last week, Thomas improved to 17-3 with a 0.67 ERA. She has 197 strikeouts and 22 walks in 126 innings. In her 20 starts this year, she has thrown 15 complete games.
Thomas threw two complete games against Texas A&M over the weekend. On Saturday, she allowed five hits, walked four, gave up three earned runs and struck out eight. In Sunday's shutout, Thomas allowed four hits and struck out nine.
She also threw four of the game's five innings in a 9-1 win against Evansville on Wednesday.
Tuesday's announcement marked the fifth time Thomas has been named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week in her career.
