TODAY'S QUESTION: What impact would gender-neutral housing have on MU students?

A vote on an MU student resolution to include gender-neutral housing as an option for the 2012 academic year was passed early last week.

The Missourian reported Wednesday that Taylor Dukes, the association's director of service and sustainability, said gender-neutral housing could provide a better comfort level for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community and create a more inclusive environment overall.

"The reason we as a student government are doing this is to bring this to the attention of the university," Dukes said. "Not only could this be a proactive step for Mizzou but a progressive action in general."

The department of residential life must still approve the association's resolution before it takes effect.
