The records: FlightAware Website
Why you’d want them: Track and monitor the flight information of public and private airplanes as they fly around the United States. Monitor individual airports or even specific airplanes with the use of airport titles and flight numbers. Missourian reporters used the site to track the arrival of new MU basketball coach Frank Haith on the day his selection was announced.
Where you get the records: Go to http://flightaware.com/. The tracking tool can be found in the middle of the page. If searching for a specific airport (such as Columbia Regional Airport), begin typing in the location of the airport. Options that match the search will pop up automatically. If searching for a specific plane (you must know the flight number), enter the flight number into the box labeled as such.
How much it will cost: Basic information (departure and arrival times) is free. More detailed information, including text messages on flight updates, is available when you register for a free account. To do so, click the register tab on the top right side of the page.
