COLUMBIA — Laurence Bowers, a forward on the Missouri men's basketball team, announced Saturday that he is withdrawing his name from the 2011 NBA Draft to return for his senior season at MU, according to a release from the Missouri athletic department.
"This has been a positive experience for me," Bowers said in the release. "I wanted to get some feedback on what areas of my game I needed to work on and that happened, but the bottom line is that I am looking forward to my senior season at Missouri.
"I have really enjoyed working with our new coaching staff, and as a senior class we have a lot of great opportunities ahead of us."
Bowers led Missouri in rebounds (6.1 per game) and was second in scoring (11.6 points per game) last season. He also blocked 62 shots, the second most in the Big 12 Conference.
The Missourian previously reported that Bowers, as well as teammate Kim English, declared themselves eligible for the NBA Draft but did not hire agents. Without agents, Bowers and English could retain their collegiate eligibility if they removed their names from the draft by May 8.
As of Saturday, English had still not removed his name from the draft.
