COLUMBIA — Stephens College's Summer Theatre Institute will present four free shows to the public beginning at the end of May.
The institute is part of the three-year, two-summer bachelor of fine arts program. It provides first-year students the opportunity to produce, direct and act in a show business environment, according to a news release.
All shows are free and open to the public. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
An Evening of Children’s Theatre
When: 7:30 p.m., May 20
Where: Warehouse Theatre, 104 Willis Ave.
Description: An evening of children’s theatre, including fables and fairy tales, for all ages.
Unbelievable
When: 7:30 p.m., June 3
Where: Warehouse Theatre, 104 Willis Ave.
Description: A world premiere of short plays created by the Summer Theatre Institute company. Some pieces include adult content.
Combat and Comedy
When: 7:30 p.m., June 10
Where: Warehouse Theatre, 104 Willis Ave.
Description: An evening of sword fights, kicking, punching, pratfalls, comedy, drama, Shakespeare and tumbling. The production is suitable for ages 12 and up.
Musical Revue
When: 7:30 p.m., June 20
Where: Macklanburg Playhouse, 100 Willis Ave.
Description: The revue presented by the Summer Theatre Institute company is an annual tradition and includes some of Broadway’s most-loved materials, according to the release.
