Mississippi River rises again in Missouri, Illinois

ST. LOUIS — More heavy rain is causing another spike in the Mississippi River.
The National Weather Service reports that the river is well above flood stage from the Iowa-Missouri border south to near the confluence with the Missouri River. Heavy rain in parts of Iowa, Missouri and Illinois Tuesday night and Wednesday morning caused the river to rise up to 6 feet in some towns.
The Mississippi is now at or near major flood stage in Hannibal, Louisiana and Winfield in Missouri, and Quincy, Ill. It is expected to crest Thursday through Saturday north of St. Louis.
