COLUMBIA — Missouri softball player Abby Vock has been nominated for the 2011 NCAA National Woman of the Year award.
The award, in its 21st year, honors senior student athletes who demonstrated academic achievement, athletic excellence, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
Vock, a three-year team captain, earned 2011 first-team All-Big 12 honors as a second baseman and was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. She also won Missouri's Unsung Hero Award in 2011.
Vock graduated magna cum laude in May. She was also named to the dean's list for eight semesters in the Trulaske College of Business.
Vock did community service projects at the Central Missouri Food Bank, the Children's Hopsital and CASA Youth Softball Clinic.
Vock is one of 10 nominees for the award in Division I and one of 30 women in Divisions I, II and III.
The winner will be announced in October.
