The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, under the direction of Missouri head coach Tim Jamieson, won two games during the past two days to improve its overall record to 5-1 this summer.
Team USA defeated the Newport Gulls Tuesday by a score of 8-4 and the New Bedford Baysox Wednesday by a score of 7-5. The two games were the final leg of the team’s tour through the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
The team’s only loss during the stretch came against the NECBL All-Stars at Fenway Park with a score of 3-2.
The Collegiate National Team’s 4-1 victory against the North Shore Navigators on June 26 featured five shutout innings from Missouri pitcher Eric Anderson, who got the start. He allowed three hits, surrendered one walk and struck out two batters.
Team USA now heads to North Carolina, where it will play the Gastonia Grizzlies Thursday. The team will then play games Friday and Saturday against the 18U National Team before beginning a five-game, multi-site series against the Japan Collegiate All-Stars Sunday.
