COLUMBIA — A silver Mercury minivan was left on its side around 9:20 a.m. Friday after a two-car accident on Broadway near Dorsey Avenue.
The Columbia Fire Department cut the roof off the vehicle to remove the driver, but no serious injuries were reported.
Leroy Tillman, a security officer at Stephens College, said he was one of the first responders on the scene.
“When I got here, the car was turned over, and I went to check on the victim," Tillman said. "He was able to respond and told me that he was OK for now."
The driver extricated from the minivan was transported to Boone Hospital Center for further evaluation, said Capt. Larry Curtis of the Fire Department.
The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, Curtis said.
The other vehicle involved was towed, and no one from that vehicle needed medical attention, Curtis said.
“It’s a miracle that no one was seriously injured," traffic officer Scott Wilson said. "This accident just looks a lot worse than it really is.”.
