JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Jay Nixon has signed legislation lowering the minimum age for obtaining a concealed guns permit to 21.
The minimum age had been 23 — which the National Rifle Association said was the highest in the country — since Missouri adopted its concealed weapons law in 2003.
The legislation, signed Friday, also revises one of the training requirements for a concealed gun permit. Those seeking permits will have to shoot 50 rounds each with a revolver and a semiautomatic pistol instead of 50 rounds with any handgun.
