COLUMBIA — A Columbia man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree robbery Monday night, police spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.
Thaddeus Thompson, 30, admitted his involvement in the robberies of Regions Bank at 3111 S. Providence Road and Martinsburg Bank and Trust at 205 E. Nifong Boulevard, Stroer said.
Thompson was taken into custody without incident at about 6:20 p.m. at his residence, 6441 Gateview Drive South, after detectives served a search warrant.
Thompson had taken heroin and cut his wrist before being arrested. He was transported to University Hospital. After his injuries were treated, he was committed to the maximum-security Biggs Building at Fulton State Hospital on Monday night, Stroer said.
No information was released about his condition.
No charges have been filed yet.
