COLUMBIA — The “Portrait of a Sister City” photography exhibit debuts Wednesday at the “Around the World” Family Fun Fest from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flat Branch Park. The photos portray the life and work of people in the city of Suncheon, South Korea, the first of Columbia’s sister cities to be featured in a show.
The exhibit will then be displayed at the lobby of the historic Daniel Boone Building from Aug. 18 through mid-November. The lobby is open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Some of the photos are also available online.
Columbia’s other sister cities include Hakusan, Japan; Laoshan District, Qingdao, China; Kutaisi, Georgia; and Sibiu, Romania. Renee Graham, spokeswoman for the city of Columbia and coordinator of Sister City activities, said she hopes to feature other sister cities in future exhibits. The project is a great way to show Columbians the people, places and things that make our sister cities special, Graham said.
Flat Branch Park is located in downtown Columbia at 101 S. Fourth St.
