COLUMBIA — A van slammed through a wall of the Hardee's on Paris Road on Thursday night.
The driver lost control of the vehicle after an unidentified object flew in front of the van. Instead of hitting the brakes, the driver mistakenly “hit the gas,” according to Columbia Police Department Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer.
The van then careened through a wall into the restaurant at 8:49 p.m. The van was occupied by one driver and one passenger. There were no injuries.
The people in the van were in line at the Hardee's drive-thru when the accident occurred, Stroer said.
Stroer said the driver was sober at the time. Hardee's could not be reached for comment, and the extent of the damage is unknown.
