ASHLAND — The 35th annual Cattlemen Days Rodeo will begin this weekend in Ashland.
The rodeo, which starts at 8 p.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Saturday, features concession stands, a beer garden and a concert by the band Str8 Arrow.
Bruce Glascock, rodeo committee chairman, said the two-day event usually brings about 5,000 people to the Ashland rodeo grounds.
The Ashland Optimist Club and the Cedar Valley Riders have raised $14,000 to contribute toward prize money for seven events at the rodeo. More funds will be added from the entry fees charged to each rider.
The proceeds from the weekend help the Saddle Club maintain the rodeo facility and allow the Optimist Club to support local youth programs, Glascock said.
Tickets are $11 in advance or $13 at the gate for adults. Children ages 6 to 11 years old will be charged $5; kids under 5 get in free.
