COLUMBIA — The Roots 'N' Blues 'N' BBQ Festival opened Friday evening downtown, and continues through Saturday night.
The annual event kicked off with a bike parade and a march featuring the Missouri High Steppers, followed by a series of concerts on three stages. Local businesses set up shop to attract festival attendees.

Rachel Tompkins from Edwards County, Ill., drove to Columbia to watch Mavis Staple's concert at the Roots 'N' Blues 'N' BBQ Festival. "I've listened to her music for almost 40 years. This is the most perfect music I've ever heard. I really enjoy it," Tompkins said.
