Halftime: Missouri leads Western Illinois 42-0

COLUMBIA — Henry Josey’s 263 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries led an explosive Missouri offense to a 42-0 halftime lead over Western Illinois.

Josey's performance in the first half puts him fourth on Missouri's single-game rushing record list.

Missouri scored first, 3:28 into the game when James Franklin rolled left to find a wide open Wes Kemp standing on the Western Illinois one-yard line. Kemp took a step into the end zone, completing the 37-yard score, and the Tigers took a 7-0 lead.

Less than five minutes later, the Tigers finished an eight-play, 83-yard drive when Josey found the end zone from six yards out.

Josey would score again on a 21-yard rush with 2:45 remaining in the first quarter.

Franklin rifled a ball over the middle to T.J. Moe with 9:36 to go in the second for his second touchdown pass, this time from 30 yards out, to put Missouri up 28-0. Then, it was Franklin to Kemp again to make it 35-0, this time for a 10-yard connection on third-and-goal with 3:06 remaining in the half.

Josey put the exclamation point on the half, running one in from 68 yards out with 0:52 remaining to round out his totals.

Tigers out-gained the Leathernecks 476-50 overall in the half. The Leathernecks' only first down of the half came 34 seconds into the second quarter.
