Organization spokeswoman Michelle Trupiano said abortions were performed in Columbia last week and normally are performed at that clinic two or three times a month. She said abortion services will be suspended in October until a replacement physician can be found.
Trupiano said abortions also were suspended for a couple months last year at the clinic while Planned Parenthood searched for a new doctor to perform them.
