COLUMBIA — It's one thing to get the lead and a completely different one to keep it.
The Missouri women's soccer team let an early lead slip away and fell 2-1 to Texas on Sunday at Walton Stadium.

The loss means the Tigers (9-5-0) fell short in their effort to get two consecutive Big 12 Conference wins at home over the weekend. Missouri had beaten visiting No. 17 Texas A&M on Friday.
Missouri's junior midfielder Haley Krentz's goal 13 mintues into the first half of Sunday's game was not enough. The Longhorns bounced back with two goals before halftime. The score stayed the same in the second half despite the Tigers' efforts to equalize.
On a positive note for Missouri, redshirt freshman goalkeeper McKenzie Sauerwein had another outstanding performance for the Tigers, making nine saves. Sauerwein has proved a reliable goalkeeper throughout the season.
Sunday was only the second time the Tigers failed to get a win at home this season. Missouri has displayed its best form playing at Walton Stadium, where they have won six games during the fall.
The home loss against Texas was probably the toughest so far, though.
It means that Missouri's Big 12 record dropped to 1-3-0. With half of the conference regular season gone, the Tigers will have to adjust quickly if they want to get their Big 12 campaign back on track.
Missouri will have the chance to refocus outside conference play. The Tigers are set to host Southern Illinois Edwardsville at 6:30 p.m. next Friday at Walton Stadium.
