Missouri women's soccer team earns second Big 12 win of the season

The Tigers knew it was make or break for them, and they responded.

The Missouri women's soccer team bounced back from its Friday loss to Baylor and earned a 5-2 win against Oklahoma on Sunday in Norman, Okla.

Sunday's game was the Tigers' (11-6-0) second Big 12 Conference victory of the season and a chance to boost to their chances in conference competition.

After a half-an-hour battle for possession, Missouri scored two goals in quick succession. Freshman midfielder Taylor Grant connected in the 29th minute, and freshman Kaysie Clark also netted a goal in the 31st minute to make the score 2-0.

Oklahoma closed the gap in the 44th minute on a goal by freshman forward Kelly Price to make the score 2-1 at halftime.

The Tigers had the best possible start to the second half, with sophomore midfielder Dominique Richardson scoring in the 47th minute.

But the Sooners would not give up and found their second goal in the 59th minute. Sophomore forward Annalisa Hall beat the Missouri goalkeeper to make the score 3-2.

Missouri hit back yet again, however, with senior forward Kendra Collins scoring in the 71st minute and sophomore midfielder Danielle Nottingham netting a late strike that secured the Tigers' win.

After Sunday's game, Nottingham and Richardson lead Missouri with five goals each.

The Tigers will continue to fight for a spot in the Big 12 postseason at 6:30 p.m. Friday when they are set to host Kansas at Walton Stadium.
