Temperatures reached 84 degrees in the early evening Tuesday in Columbia, according to the National Weather Service.
After midnight, temperatures are projected to drop 30 degrees or more as winds shift northeast. Karl Sieczynski, spokesman for the National Weather Service, said rain is predicted for Wednesday and will likely end Thursday morning.
