COLUMBIA — Simmons Field at Taylor Stadium, the home of the Missouri baseball team has been named one of 11 Field of the Year winners by the Sports Turf Managers Association. The field is maintained by MU Turf Specialist Josh McPherson and his staff.
“Each year STMA awards no more than 14 Fields of the Year, so a very small percentage of our members are winners," said Kim Heck, CEO of the Sports Turf Managers Association in a release about the award. "Josh McPherson and his crew are very deserving of this prestigious award."
A panel of six judges gives awards in five field types, including baseball, football, soccer, softball and sporting grounds, and for each field type, awards are given in the professional, college and university and schools and parks categories.
