PHOTO GALLERY: Memorial quilt commemorates victims for World AIDS Day

Panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt hang in the Firestone Baars Chapel at Stephens College during the week leading up to World AIDS Day on Thursday. Since 1987, more than 40,000 panels have been created commemorating more than 91,000 AIDS victims.

Thirteen panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt are on display in the Firestone Baars Chapel at Stephens College during the week leading up to Thursday, which is World AIDS Day.

Thirteen of the panels are open for viewing at Stephens from 3 to 8 p.m. until Thursday. Community groups will also hold a candlelight vigil and service of remembrance at 5 p.m. Thursday at the corner of College Avenue and Broadway.
