The Missouri football team has accepted an invitation to play in the Independence Bowl on Dec. 26 in Shreveport, La. Missouri's opponent will be North Carolina.
The Tigers fell out of the Big 12's bowl selection order.
Missouri has played in the Independence Bowl twice before, most recently in 2005, when the Tigers defeated South Carolina 38-31. Missouri also played in the game in 2003, when it lost to Arkansas 27-14.
The Independence Bowl is scheduled to be played at 4 p.m. Dec. 26 and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
No. 1 LSU will face No. 2 Alabama in a Southeastern Conference rematch for the BCS National Championship Game in New Orleans on Jan. 9. Oklahoma State was No. 3 in the BCS ranking.
No. 3 Oklahoma State will play No. 4 Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2 after winning the Big 12 title on Saturday.
