COLUMBIA — It was standing room only in Kimball Ballroom on Thursday night as guests waited for the graduates to file in for Stephens College's commencement ceremony.
"You are now Stephens women — and a few good men," said Henry Waters III, a member of the Stephens Board of Trustees.

The college conferred 29 bachelor's and 31 master's degrees, according to a news release from the college.
Annette Sobel, assistant to the provost for strategic opportunities at MU, gave the commencement speech. She spoke about where the graduates were in life and what impact they could have on the world.
"Each of you is at a unique intersection in your lives; you have youth, intellect and opportunity all converging," she said.
"Each one of you is a change agent in the future, and I encourage you each to make every opportunity possible through your lives to fulfill that dream," she said.
Amy LaPaglia, a graduate student, and Kara Hinshaw, an undergraduate student, gave the commencement class speeches.
Hinshaw said she'd made friends for life at Stephens. She connected lessons she learned in kindergarten to those she learned in college:
"Teachers here at Stephens taught us how to color outside the lines," she said.
