"Few times can Midwestern folks brag about a warm day in January. But, Jan. 5 found temperatures near the Canadian border warmer than Miami Beach, Fla. We savor those days, for they are few and a long way in between. With temperatures, mid-Missouri, around 63 degrees, here is what the camera was able to do after a long lay off."
Notes from a unique Iowa caucus

"On Jan. 3, 2012, five people proved that size does not matter in the Iowa caucuses. Tuesday night near Manilla, Iowa, just five of 56 eligible voters participated in the Aspenwall Precinct’s caucus.
The caucus, one of just two in the state to be hosted in a home, was held in the house of Art and Peggy Joens."
The Heart of Missouri Chorus to host open house

"The Heart of Missouri Chorus is part of Sweet Adelines International, a highly respected worldwide organization of women singers. Its members share a love for singing a cappella music in the barbershop style. As a member, you too can experience the exhilaration of performing and singing. Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range."
The open house will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at Lenoir Community Center, 1 Hourigan Circle, Columbia, MO, 65201.

"My boys had a blast at the Harlem Globetrotters on Jan. 5 at Mizzou Arena. We were treated to a pre-show with pictures and autographs, and a halftime meet and greet with more pictures. But the icing on the cake was what my son Aidan, who's 7, got to do.
The Globetrotters pulled him out on the court to make a basket."
