COLUMBIA — Former Missouri defensive end Aldon Smith was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Friday night in Miami Beach, Fla.
According to a police report, Smith, who finished his rookie season with the San Francisco 49ers last week in the NFC championship game, was booked into jail at 9:32 a.m on Saturday. His bond was listed as $1,000.
Smith was the seventh pick in the 2011 draft, three before former Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert. Smith had 14 sacks for the San Francisco 49ers in his first NFL season, one short of a rookie record.
During his redshirt freshman season at Missouri in 2009, Smith recorded 60 tackles and 11 sacks and was named the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year. In 2010 he played through a leg injury and had six sacks.
