COLUMBIA — Super Bowl Sunday, a day some consider a national holiday, was enjoyed by many in Columbia. The New York Giants edged the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, 21-17, in the final minutes of the game. Giants quarterback Eli Manning was named MVP.
Customers ordering carry-out food wait outside Buffalo Wild Wings on Sunday at the Rock Bridge Shopping Center. Although there was room in the restaurant for immediate seating, most people chose to take their food to go and watch the Super Bowl elsewhere.
Employees are kept busy at Buffalo Wild Wings at Rock Bridge Shopping Center on Sunday. The rush of carry-out orders before the Super Bowl resulted in a line of customers out the front door and into the parking lot.
The Super Bowl is projected on a 36-foot movie screen at the Blue Note on Sunday. The "Blues Bowl 12," hosted by 102.3 BXR, also had a raffle drawing and a performance by the band Trampled Under Foot after the game.

Jim Thorne begins his Super Bowl Sunday shopping at the West Broadway Hyvee on Sunday. Hyvee employees spent 13 hours setting up the store's NFL display.
