Battle High School athletics director, assistant principals named

COLUMBIA — Matthew Hale, head track coach at Cape Girardeau High School, will be the athletics director at Muriel Williams Battle High School as well as one of its assistant principals, Columbia Public Schools announced Monday.
Hale has coached an array of sports and has served as athletics director at Scott County R-IV School District. He received his master’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University.

Jacob Sirna, assistant principal at Oakland Junior High School, will also be an assistant principal at Battle High School. Sirna earned a specialist degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and taught in Kansas City for eight years.
Hale and Sirna join future Principal Kim Presko and another seven educators as Battle High School's staff takes shape. Construction of the new school, scheduled to open in 2013, is on time if not ahead of schedule.
