COLUMBIA — A 32-year-old man was arrested by the Boone County Sheriff's Department on charges of child pornography Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release.
An investigation began in mid-December 2011 when a Cyber Crimes Task Force investigator discovered child pornography being offered through a file sharing program, according to the release. The transmission was traced to a specific residence in Cooper County.
Last Thursday, investigators from the task force, FBI and the Cooper County Sheriff's Department searched the residence on a court ordered warrant. Many items were taken, including a computer, hard drives and other electronic evidence, according to the release.
Prior to seizing the items, the computer was examined and more than 80 child pornography files were found, including photos and videos, according to the release. The release also said some of the children in the files were believed to be as young as five to seven years old.
The suspect is identified as Paul Durham of Boonville. Durham is being held in Boone County Jail pending the filing of formal charges.
