Two Missouri gymnasts recognized with weekly Big 12 awards

COLUMBIA — Two Missouri gymnasts were recognized with Big 12 Conference honors after the team defeated then-No. 23 North Carolina State on Friday at Hearnes Center.
Freshman Rachel Updike was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Tuesday, setting a conference record by winning the award for a fifth consecutive week.

Senior Mary Burke was named Gymnast of the Week for the second time this season. Burke took the all-around title in the meet against the Wolfpack, matching her career-high score.
The No. 18 Tigers are 5-0, with four of their victories coming against ranked opponents. On Friday, the team will travel to Chicago to face No. 7 UCLA, No. 15 Boise State and No. 19 Illinois at the IGI Chicago Style Invite.
