JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Jay Nixon said he's not discouraged by the Senate's recent refusal to confirm several of his appointees.
Nixon's economic development director resigned last week after failing to win Senate confirmation. The Republican-led Senate also blocked several other appointments made by the Democratic governor, including one to the University of Missouri System Board of Curators.
Nixon said that more than 90 percent of his appointments did win approval, which he said was a pretty good rate.
As a former state senator, Nixon said he respects the process by which senators can object to gubernatorial appointments.
