COLUMBIA — On the second day of swimming at the Missouri Grand Prix the most captivating event happened outside the water. Shortly after Olympic silver-medalist Matt Grevers claimed a first place medal in the men's 100-meter backstroke he invited his teammate and girlfriend to join him on top of the podium and then proposed to her.
MU's Griffin Peavey won the first heat of the men’s 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:24:87 Saturday at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

Eegan Groome and two other Missouri swimmers warm up in between heats. Groome swam in the final heat of the men’s 400-meter freestyle race during the second day of the Missouri Grand Prix on Saturday. Groome placed seventh in this event with a time of 4:3:10.

With a time of 53:57 seconds Matt Grevers claims a gold medal in the men’s 100-meter backstroke Saturday night at the Missouri Grand Prix. As he received his award he knelt and proposed to girlfriend and USA national swimming teammate, Annie Chandler. She said yes.
