One to three inches of snow predicted for Columbia on Monday

COLUMBIA  — Columbia could see one to three inches of snow Monday.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory Sunday, predicting a 100 percent chance for precipitation in Boone, Callaway and other counties around mid-Missouri. In some parts of mid-Missouri, there could be two to four inches of snowfall. The advisory is in effect for Monday from 6 a.m. until midnight. 

Winds from 10 to 15 mph, possible sleet and freezing drizzle are also predicted.

The National Weather Service warned that the heaviest snowfall will create hazardous driving conditions for the afternoon commute.

Friday's low temperature was expected to hit single digits, but only reached 18 degrees, according to data from the National Weather Service. The low temperature Sunday morning in Columbia was 10 degrees.

Monday's high is predicted to be 33 degrees.
