PrintCOLUMBIA — Residents will have an opportunity to share their thoughts on Columbia’s transportation system at a public forum tonight hosted by First Ward Councilman Fred Schmidt and sponsored by Columbians for Modern, Efficient Transit.
The forum will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Russell Chapel CME Church, 108 E. Ash St. It is the first of two forums being held by Columbians for Modern Efficient Transit.

For transit riders in Columbia, it's been a year of upheaval. Fare increases, route cuts, and budget crises have left Columbia's bus system in a state of uncertainty. The public forums provide a place for the community to offer suggestions to improve public transportation in the city.
The forum will include dinner and childcare.
A similar forum, scheduled for Feb. 13, was rescheduled because of the weather. Sixth Ward Councilwoman Barbara Hoppe will host the forum, which was rescheduled for 5:30 to 8 p.m. March 12 at Unitarian Universalist Church, 2615 Shepard Blvd.
