Missouri attorney general seeks $3 million to remodel his office

JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri attorney general's office is proposing to use money from consumer fraud cases to renovate its office space.
A proposal before the legislature would spend nearly $3.2 million to remodel two floors of the Broadway State Office Building used by staff of Attorney General Chris Koster.

Koster, a Democrat, said Wednesday that the remodeling won't be fancy and is intended to make the facilities equivalent to a modest law office. The remodeling would remove a low ceiling, replace worn carpet and cubicles and improve the heating and cooling system.
Sen. Will Kraus, R-Lee's Summit, questioned whether it is a wise use of money to remodel an office while the state is considering cuts to higher education and other programs because of a budget shortfall.

Boy, you'd think they'd at least launder the money through a couple of different accounts first rather than just brazenly feather their nest with the spoils of their extortion racket. This only furthers my view that state run "justice" is just another word for "kick-back."
Meanwhile, the AG has still done nothing to rectify the destruction of the property title system, well, other than to cut a deal with the very banks that created the MERS database which clouds every title it touches. Once again, some criminals perpetrate fraud, while other criminals cover it up for them for a cut of the loot. The original victims? "Here's a dollar. Now shut up and go away. What's that? Your life's been destroyed? Okay, maybe I'll give you two (but only because it's an election year)."
That they do this in broad daylight shows how they believe they can steal with impunity. After all, they are "the law." And if a Missourian reporter asks them for more detail, why they'll just decline to comment, like they did after the first attempt at a MERS settlement.
The only thing they want you to know about it is the part they are going to skim off to "fix" the State's education budget. No real details, just free money "for the children."
And now the AG is going to spend some of the loot gained from unspecified settlements to remodel his office in a "non-fancy" way? Wait, did he forget it is an election year? (Somebody might want to let him know this important detail.)
As always, AG Koster, I'm waiting for you to do your job by upholding the rule of law concerning property titles in Missouri, not cutting deals with the criminals using your legal leverage in order to get a payoff for your own office. Of course, given I've not seen a single press release that even hints at the issue (focusing instead SOLELY on the robo-signing cover-up), I'm not holding my breath in anticipation of you standing up to some of the biggest criminals on the planet.
