COLUMBIA — Back-to-back 3-point plays were enough for the Cougars to take the lead for good with less than 2 minutes to play in a game that was close from the opening tip.
With a win on Thursday, the Columbia College women's basketball team won the regular season American Midwest Conference title.
The No. 24 Cougars defeated Hannibal-LaGrange, 67-60, improving their record to 21-8 overall and 11-2 in conference play. The title is Columbia College's seventh in the 11-year program.
The team has won three conference tournament championships in the past six years and the top seed in the AMC tournament ensures that Columbia College will host each game they play.
The conference tournament starts on Wednesday. This weekend, the Cougars will finish the regular season against Harris-Stowe at 2 p.m. Saturday at Columbia College's Arena of Southwell Complex.
