The Missouri softball team was supposed to get an easy victory against Texas Tech. Instead, it got a hard lesson. “It’s unfortunate because the way it usually works out for all of us in life is that we have to learn lessons the hard way,” said MU coach Ehren Earleywine. “I tell them a thousand times in practice these same things, and I think sometimes it takes getting burned and being embarrassed in a venue like this before you really learn your lesson.”
Former Missouri walk-on Adam Crossett will try to earn a kicking spot in the NFL with the Colts.
After sprinting didn't work out for Shernelle Nichols, she took up throws and has been successful ever since.

Rhea Taylor was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year on Friday, and eight other Tigers were named to all-conference teams.
The Missouri baseball team beat Kansas 5-3 in the first game of the weekend series against their rival.
Missouri's women golfers are in 19th place after the second round of the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Although attending Missouri wasn’t in her plans, the Tigers have counted on freshman Rhea Taylor to spark their offense all season.
The MU forward with remain with the Tigers for another year. There is no word yet on whether fellow player DeMarre Carroll will also remove his name from consideration.

Pat Venditte has been able to throw a ball with both arms since he was three. Now a senior relief pitcher for Creighton, he uses both arms to torment his opponents.

Twins Stephanie and Jodie Schultz have enjoyed their freshmen seasons at Columbia College. The two have been playing softball together since they were young.
MU sophomore Mike Taylor, a member of the Mizzou Strength Club, will attempt to walk-on to the Missouri football team this fall, despite never having played organized football in his life.

Ashley Farmer graduated from high school early to claim a scholarship for the Cougars. Despite some teasing by her teammates, she has acclimated to the new environment.
After giving up 27 hits and 17 runs in the first two games of its series against Kansas State and still finding a way to win, the Missouri baseball team gave up just two runs through eight innings of Sunday’s finale at Taylor Stadium and found a way to lose.

Carl E. Bolte Jr., a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, threw out the first pitch at Saturday's game.
Saturday, a handful of MU business students got some real-life, hands-on help from members of both the men’s and women’s teams. The clinic, organized by MU College of Business student council member Laura Eisenbeis, was held to address an issue that came up during the fall semester.
