Charles J. McClain, who presided over Northeast Missouri State University's transformation from a teacher's college into Truman State University, died Thursday. He was 83.

Helen Elizabeth (Gentry) Cain owned and operated a beauty shop in her home until 1999. She also loved fishing, gardening and making quilts. Ms. Cain died Monday. She was 95.
