Mrs. Copeland taught business at several academic institutions before she retired. One of her greatest pleasures was reading, and she taught all of her children and grandchildren to read before they started elementary school.

Nolen wrote several books and was a columnist for several newspapers, including the Columbia Missourian. She was active in multiple organizations, including the Rose M. Nolen Black History Library and Center for African-American Studies Museum.

Dr. Peter Hasselriis, Feb. 8, 1937 — Dec. 28, 2014, of Columbia

For nearly 30 years, Dr. Hasselriis taught reading and semantics classes at MU. He and his wife, Marilyn, traveled around the world, mostly on bicycles, and he enjoyed a daily ritual of crossword puzzles.
