At Tolton High School, BARF fills the fitness gap

The Blazer Athletic Running and Fitness program, known as BARF, is run by Fr. Tolton Catholic High School's Pat Kelly and Mike Johnson. It was designed to keep athletes fit during the winter months between the fall and spring athletic seasons. "We work ‘em," Johnson said, "but the kids know what's good for them. They will take an extra hour after school to stay fit."

BARF — or Blazer Athletics Running and Fitness — was established at Fr. Tolton Regional Catholic High School in 2013 as a way to keep athletes in shape between sports seasons and is now a hit among students. The name was chosen to amuse the students, but it's serious work.
