Friends and families gathered for winter activities, including sledding and ice hockey, on Thursday at Stephens Lake Park in Columbia. The recorded high for the day was 23 degrees, according to the MU Sanborn Research Center.

Although Columbia Parks and Recreation advised not to go on the ice, people took the risk walking onto the frozen lake to skate. Next week's temperatures are predicted to reach as high as 54 degrees by Tuesday, making Thursday one of the last days to enjoy the cold weather before the snow melts and spring emerges.
