The U.S. Exercise Tiger Foundation hosted a wreath tribute Wednesday in Mexico, Missouri. The event honored the 77th anniversary of the Battle of Exercise Tiger, rehearsals for D-Day that resulted in more than 700 service members killed. The foundation honored four Black Navy and U.S. Coast Guard sailors from World War II, as well as the Kingdom Pilots Association for flying air support missions for "Mask a Vet" during the pandemic.

The event closed with a ceremonial removal of a blue ribbon from an anchor outside the Audrain County Courthouse. The ribbon was placed on the anchor during last year's ceremony to remember victims of COVID-19 and to act as a "beacon of hope" for the development of a vaccine, according to the USTF website.
