COLUMBIA — Stormwater drain construction work over the next month will reduce traffic on Hospital Drive, the road in front of University Hospital, the city announced Thursday.

One lane will remain open during the project, which will begin Friday evening and is expected to be completed by Aug. 29. River City Construction will do the work, affecting the street between Deans Drive and Monk Drive.

Motorists and pedestrians should expect lane shifts and sidewalk closures on both sides of the street. City officials urge motorists and pedestrians to use extreme caution in the work zone and use alternate routes if possible.
